As a result, Indigenous adolescents resort to substance use at a much higher rate than non-Indigenous counterparts, and at an earlier age. This is directly connected to many cases, including most of the Seven Fallen Feathers deaths.

The one thing that remains constant for Indigenous students is isolation. As they move away from home to pursue education, they're separated from their family and forced to find their footing in the heart of the city that scorns them most.
